1. Introduction & Editorial Policy

Advances in Modern Science and Research (AMSR) is an international, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal dedicated to publishing foundational and applied scientific research across biological, biomedical, veterinary, agricultural, chemical, physical, and computational disciplines.

All manuscripts submitted to AMSR are evaluated solely on the basis of scientific validity, originality, methodological rigor, clarity of exposition, and compliance with high ethical standards. Submission of a manuscript implies that the work described has not been published previously (except as an academic thesis, abstract, or preprint), is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and has been approved by all co-authors and the responsible authorities at the host institution.

2. Article Types & Specifications

Article Category Word Limit Abstract Format Display Items Max Ref.
Original Research Article 4,000 – 8,500 words Structured (≤ 250 words) — Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion Max 8 figures/tables combined 50
Review Article (Narrative / Systematic) 6,000 – 10,000 words Unstructured (≤ 300 words) Max 10 figures/tables combined 120
Short Communication / Brief Report 1,500 – 2,500 words Unstructured (≤ 150 words) Max 3 figures/tables combined 25
Methodology & Protocol Paper 3,000 – 5,000 words Structured (≤ 200 words) Max 6 figures/tables combined 40
Editorial / Commentary 1,000 – 1,500 words None required Max 1 table or figure 15

3. Manuscript Structure & Preparation

Manuscripts should be compiled in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX format, double-spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman or Arial font, with 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins and continuous line and page numbering throughout.

3.1 Title Page (Separate File for Double-Blind Review)

  • Title: Concise, descriptive, and informative (avoid abbreviations and formula strings).
  • Author Names: Full first name, middle initial, and surname for each author.
  • Affiliations: Department, Institution, City, Postal Code, Country for each author.
  • Corresponding Author: Name, institutional email address, telephone number, and full postal address.
  • ORCID IDs: Authors are strongly encouraged to supply their 16-digit ORCID identifier.
  • Running Title: Shortened title not exceeding 50 characters including spaces.

3.2 Blinded Manuscript File (Main Text)

To ensure unbiased double-blind peer review, remove all author names, institutional affiliations, and direct self-identifying acknowledgments from the main manuscript file. Organize the text according to standard IMRaD format:

  1. Title & Abstract: Include title, abstract (max 250 words), and 4–6 keywords selected from standard controlled vocabularies (e.g., MeSH).
  2. Introduction: State the background, rationale, existing gaps, specific research questions, and explicit hypotheses tested.
  3. Materials and Methods: Provide sufficient technical detail to allow exact replication. State ethical clearance codes, statistical software, models, and reagent sources.
  4. Results: Present findings clearly and objectively. Use subheadings to break down data logically. Avoid redundancy between text and tables.
  5. Discussion: Interpret results in relation to working hypotheses and published literature. Discuss limitations and biological/practical significance.
  6. Conclusions: Succinct summary of major conclusions and direct implications for future investigations.

4. Figures, Tables, and Supplementary Data

  • Artwork & Figures: Submit high-resolution TIFF, EPS, or PNG files. Line drawings and schematics must be minimum 600 DPI; color photographs and histology/microscopy micrographs must be minimum 300 DPI. Include visible scale bars on micrographs.
  • Tables: Create tables using the Word table editor. Each table must have an explanatory caption above it. Use standard superscript letters (a, b, c) for footnotes. Do not submit tables as embedded images.
  • Supplementary Materials: Datasets, extended protocols, high-resolution videos, and raw analytical outputs should be labeled Supplementary Table S1, Supplementary Figure S1, etc.

5. Reference Style & Citation Format (AMSR Standard)

AMSR uses the Vancouver (Numbered) Citation System. References are numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text and denoted by Arabic numerals in square brackets (e.g., [1], [2–4], [5, 7]). Include the digital object identifier (DOI) for all cited items where available.

6. Ethical Compliance & Mandatory Declarations

Every submitted manuscript must include the following statements in the end-matter:

Required Statement Compliance Guideline
Ethics Approval & Consent Mandatory for studies involving human subjects, animal models, or biological tissues. State the Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) approval number and institution name.
Competing Interests Explicitly declare any financial, commercial, or personal associations that could represent a conflict of interest. If none exist, state: "The authors declare that they have no competing interests."
Author Contributions Specify individual contributions using the standard CRediT Taxonomy (Conceptualization, Methodology, Formal Analysis, Investigation, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review & Editing, Supervision, Funding Acquisition).
Funding Information List funding agencies, grant numbers, and the role of the funding body. If self-funded, state: "This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors."
Data Availability State where public raw data, repositories (GenBank, SRA, GEO, PRIDE, Figshare), or accession numbers can be accessed. State if data are available upon reasonable request.
Use of Generative AI Authors must disclose any use of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) during manuscript drafting. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

7. Peer Review Process & Editorial Workflow

Plagiarism Policy: Submissions undergo automated screening (Crossref Similarity Check / iThenticate). Manuscripts with an overall similarity index exceeding 15% or single-source overlap exceeding 2% are returned immediately.
  1. Initial Screening (Desk Review — 3 to 5 Days): Editorial staff and Section Editors verify manuscript scope, formatting, similarity report, and ethical declarations.
  2. Double-Blind Peer Review (3 to 4 Weeks): Assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers. Reviewers assess novelty, experimental design, statistical robustness, clarity, and relevance.
  3. Editorial Decision: Accept without revision, Minor Revision (14 days), Major Revision (28 days + re-review), or Reject.
  4. Production & Proofs (10 to 14 Days): Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration with Crossref, and XML conversion. Authors receive PDF page proofs for 48-hour review prior to final online publication.
